01

Choose your piece

Match the exact item, size and upholstery type.

02

Specify your material

Use your supplier’s confirmed specifications.

The larger repeat determines the allowance. Enter 0 for both repeats when the fabric is plain.

Railroad or up-the-bolt?
Railroad (RR)

Fabric is applied across the roll. Confirm that the textile and pattern can be used in this direction.

Up-the-bolt (UTB)

Fabric is applied along the roll. The chart adds a direction allowance; some wider surfaces may require seams.

Confirm direction with your supplier and MG+BW. A pattern name alone does not establish the application.

*The base applies to exactly 54″, railroaded, plain fabric. The original chart prints “0” in the broader plain/RR cell; this tool does not use that as a multiplier. Widths over 54″ for plain RR fabric, widths below 50″ or between 50″ and 54″, and repeats outside the printed bands require confirmation.
